Healey turns in perfect 4-for-4 performance to lead Bruins to game two victory

Taylorsville, UT—The No. 4-ranked SLCC Softball team (34-5, 28-2 SWAC) picked up a pair of home victories over Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent Western Nevada College (WNC) (8-30, 5-20 SWAC) on Friday. The Bruins topped the Wildcats 8-2 in the day's first game and won a 9-3 decision in game two.

Bruin sophomore pitcher MaCauley Flint (Roy, UT) struck out eight WNC batters in a complete game effort, allowing just one earned run. Sophomore infielder Maddy Woodard (Murray, UT) was 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and two RBIs and sophomore outfielder Malia Campos (Murray, UT) was 1-for-3 with a stolen base, a run scored and one RBI.

Freshman pitcher Ashley Kay (South Jordan, UT) picked up the win in game two with three strikeouts and two earned runs allowed in a complete game effort. Sophomore infielder Lyndsey Healey (Spanish Fork, UT) was 4-for-4 at the plate with a double, three runs scored and one RBI and sophomore designated player Whitney Holt (Tooele, UT) was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Next up for Head Coach Mary Kay Amicone and the Bruins is another doubleheader with WNC on Saturday, Apr. 6 at Cate Field. First pitch is slated for Noon.
