Two visitors' centers with interactive videos, films, Old and New Testament paintings, and an 11-foot replica of Thorvaldsen's Christus are additional attractions.
Enjoy a free concert in the Assembly Hall, a charming Gothic-style building on the southwest corner of Temple Square. International and local artists perform every weekend and some weekdays.
View the Mormon Handcart statue, the Seagull Monument, and other statuary and fountains throughout the lush flower-filled grounds.
In the North Visitors' Center during the winter months, the public is invited to attend a series of family concerts entitled, "Saturday Family Night at Temple Square."
Christmas on Temple Square is a special delight to enjoy, with hundreds of thousands of lights sparkling on trees and shrubs around the Square, a life-size Nativity scene, and musical groups performing nightly throughout December.

Utah’s Four Major Universities

Utah State University

Since its founding in 1888, Utah State University has evolved from a small, agricultural college to one that is nationally and internationally recognized for its intellectual and technological leadership in land, water, space and life enhancement. As Utah's land-grant and space-grant institution, the university is led by
President Stan L. Albrecht and has more than 850 faculty who provide education for more than 25,000 undergraduate and graduate students, including 10,000 in its distance education sites located throughout the state of Utah.

Weber State University

Weber State University prides itself in its quality teaching, its commitment to meeting the needs of students at every stage of life and its ongoing service to the community.
WSU offers more than 200 certificate and degree programs—the largest and most comprehensive undergraduate offering in the state. The university also offers eight graduate degrees. Online courses, distance learning, independent study and evening classes are offered at times and places to meet the complex needs of students balancing family and work responsibilities. An Early College program allows high school students to enter college early and take WSU classes for credit.

University of Utah 12 miles from SLCC

As a major teaching and research university, the flagship institution of the Utah state system of higher education, the University of Utah strives to create an academic environment in which the highest standards of scholarship and professional practice are observed and where responsibilities to students are conscientiously met.

Brigham Young University
The university traces its roots to Utah's rich pioneer heritage. The original school, Brigham Young Academy, was established Oct. 16, 1875, on a little over one acre of land in what is now downtown Provo. At that time, Brigham Young, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, charged that all secular learning at the institution should be fused with teachings from the scriptures. Speaking to Academy Principal Karl G. Maeser, President Young said: "Brother Maeser, I want you to remember that you ought not to teach even the alphabet or the multiplication tables without the Spirit of God." BYU has remained true to that original charge
