No. 2 SLCC Softball falls in Extra Innings

St. George, UT- The Salt Lake Community College Softball team split the final two games of the weekend defeating Western Nevada 17-1 and losing 6-5 in ten innings.  The Bruins improve to 16-3 overall and 7-1 in conference play. 
 
Salt Lake collected 17 hits in game one of the day including a 10 run 1st inning.  Maddy Woodard led the charge going 2 for 2 at the plate with a two run homerun and a double.  Ariel Zimmerman connected on her first home run of the season and Brooke Budge knocked her second homer of the year.
 
In the final game Salt Lake was unable to push runs across the plate leaving ten runners on base while the SLCC pitching staff struck out 14 WNC batters.  Savannah Webster was 3 for 5 with two RBI and Meagan Neilson was 3 for 4. 
 
No. 2 Salt Lake takes on Southern Idaho in SLCC's 2012 home opener next weekend for a double header on Friday, February 17th
