The Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) Softball program is building momentum for another exciting season by welcoming two accomplished coaches whose experience, passion, and commitment to player development will strengthen the Bruins both on and off the field.
Ben Farrar Expands His Role as Assistant Coach and Strength Coach
SLCC Softball is proud to welcome Ben Farrar as the program's Assistant Coach and Strength Coach. A certified nutritionist and personal trainer, Farrar brings a well-rounded approach to athlete development that extends beyond the weight room.
Entering his third year with the SLCC coaching staff, Farrar has become an integral part of the Bruins' success. In addition to leading the team's strength and conditioning program, he will work closely with the catchers while also assisting with hitting instruction.
His expertise in performance training, nutrition, and injury prevention provides SLCC student-athletes with the tools they need to compete at a high level throughout the season. Farrar's commitment to developing stronger, faster, and more confident athletes continues to make a lasting impact on the Bruins program.
Mariah Lopez Returns Home to Join the Bruins
SLCC Softball is also excited to welcome Mariah Lopez back to Utah as the program's new Assistant Softball Coach.
A standout pitcher at the University of Utah, Lopez graduated in 2024 after an outstanding collegiate career that earned her NFCA All-American honors. During her final season, she recorded 23 victories and 206 strikeouts, establishing herself as one of the premier pitchers in the country.
Following graduation, Lopez continued her career professionally in the Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL), gaining valuable experience competing against some of the sport's top talent. She now returns to Utah ready to share that knowledge with the next generation of Bruins.
As a former Bruin herself, Lopez understands the tradition and culture of SLCC Softball. Her journey from SLCC student-athlete to NCAA standout and professional pitcher serves as an inspiring example for current players pursuing their own dreams.
Investing in Championship-Level Development
The additions of Ben Farrar and Mariah Lopez reflect SLCC Softball's commitment to providing student-athletes with exceptional coaching in every aspect of the game.
Farrar's expertise in strength, conditioning, nutrition, and player development complements Lopez's elite playing experience and pitching knowledge. Together, they bring a unique combination of athletic performance training and high-level softball instruction that will help the Bruins continue competing at the highest level.
As the new season approaches, the future is bright for SLCC Softball. With experienced coaches dedicated to developing players both physically and mentally, the Bruins are well-positioned for continued success.
Welcome to the coaching staff, Coach Ben Farrar and Coach Mariah Lopez. Once a Bruin, always a Bruin!
