SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Salt Lake Community College Softball has announced the addition of Ken Brooke as the program's new hitting coach, bringing decades of collegiate and professional baseball experience to the Bruins.
Brooke joins the SLCC coaching staff with an impressive résumé that spans professional baseball, NCAA Division I programs, and player development at the highest levels of the game. Throughout his coaching career, he has worked alongside Major League Baseball hitting coaches and helped develop athletes who have gone on to achieve success at both the collegiate and professional levels.
Most recently, Brooke served on the coaching staff at Auburn, where he worked with standout hitter Bri Ellis. Ellis later earned National Player of the Year honors and signed professionally with the Utah Talons, highlighting Brooke's reputation for helping players maximize their offensive potential.
Before Auburn, Brooke made a significant impact at Brigham Young University (BYU). During his time with the Cougars, the program ranked seventh nationally in scoring, showcasing one of the nation's most productive offenses. Among the season's highlights was a memorable 9–4 road victory over Oklahoma, reflecting the team's offensive firepower under Brooke's guidance.
His experience extends beyond the college game, having worked with professional baseball players and Major League hitting instructors throughout his career. That wealth of knowledge is expected to provide immediate value to the Bruins as they continue building a championship-caliber program.
SLCC believes Brooke's passion for player development, technical approach to hitting, and ability to mentor athletes will make him an outstanding addition to the coaching staff. His commitment to developing confident, disciplined hitters aligns with the Bruins' vision of competing at the highest level in junior college softball.
