SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (April 11-12, 2025)- 25th ranked SLCC Softball (29-8, 16-8) cruised to a four-game series sweep over USU-Eastern. 

RHP Mataeya Trellert pitched a six inning no-hitter in game one as the Bruins won 8-0. Trellert dominated with ten strikeouts and retired 18 of the 20 batters she faced. SS Paige Shumway was 2-2 with a three-run home run and an RBI single. 1B Taylor Lewis-Balzarini added a two-run home run in the third. 

The Bruins poured in runs in game two with nine extra base hits winning 23-2. Salt Lake scored eight runs in the first inning and seven in the second. Shumway, Ellie Pond, Makaila Schneider, and Gaby Lancaster all homered for the Bruins. Lancaster's two-run home run was her first one of the season. Shumway and Pond both recorded five RBI in the big win. OF Lahela Painter went 3-3 with three runs and four RBI. 

Salt Lake won game three 11-4. Lewis-Balzarini led the Bruins going 2-3 with 3 RBI and three runs scored. C Irma Medina and OF Taitumn Reynen each had two hits and combined for three RBI and three runs scored. RHP Aubrie Hansen pitched a complete game allowing one earned run and striking out four batters. 

LHP Paige Fennel picked up the win as the Bruins completed the sweep with a 17-1 five inning win. Shumway and Pond both homered and hit RBI doubles in the final game. Salt Lake plated nine runs in the first inning and had six different players record two RBI or more.

Salt Lake will host their final series of the season versus Snow College on April 25th and 26th. The first game of the series starts at 1:00 on Friday.
