Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (March 9, 2023) – The 2022-23 postseason started with a strong performance for the Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team.
SLCC earned an impressive 61-45 decision over USU Eastern in the Region 18 semifinals in Idaho Thursday, advancing to the Region 18 championship game for the first time since 2020. The win moved the Bruins to 22-8 overall.
Salt Lake took control from the beginning, holding a 15-8 lead over the Lady Eagles after the first quarter. The Bruins held narrow control throughout the rest of the game, with SLCC finally breaking the game open with a 21-13 run in the fourth quarter.
SLCC's defense limited USU Eastern to just 32.7 percent shooting in the game, with a mark of only 3-of-13 from three-point range. Salt Lake led by as many as 21 points late in the fourth quarter.
Aminata Diakite led the Bruins with 18 points, while
Mia Tarver scored 13 points. Both
Ashton Adamson and
Finau Tonga had 7 points each.
Salt Lake will now face Southern Idaho in Friday's Region 18 championship game. The Bruins went 1-2 against CSI in the regular season.
