Salt Lake Women's Basketball Announces Two New Assistant Coaches

Salt Lake City, Utah- The Salt Lake women's basketball coaching staff welcomed two assistant coaches this week. Tanesha Daniels and Megan Vera are the new WBB assistant coaches. They will be under Kenzie Newton, who was named the Salt Lake women's basketball head coach on June 10th, 2026. 

Coach T brings seven years of collegiate coaching experience at the NJCAA and NCAA Division II levels. Throughout her career, she has helped lead teams to conference championships, regional and national tournament appearances, while developing numerous All-Conference, All-Region, and academic award recipients.

A former standout player at Salt Lake Community College and Grand Canyon University, before transitioning into coaching. She is passionate about player development, recruiting, and building winning cultures on and off the court. Daniels is from Brigham City, Utah. 

Megan Vera joins the SLCC women's basketball coaching staff with more than 15 years of coaching experience. She previously served as a volunteer assistant at Westminster University and spent 12 successful seasons as head coach at Grantsville High School, leading the Cowboys to seven region championships, eight state semifinal appearances, and more than 200 career wins. Vera also has nine years of club coaching experience.  

Her coaching philosophy centers around building confident, resilient players in a positive and demanding environment. She emphasizes defensive intensity, mental toughness, and team chemistry, while fostering a culture where athletes are encouraged to grow on and off the court. Vera is from Grantsville, Utah.
