Box Score

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 3, 2023) – Marcilina Grayer's unranked Bruins battled but ultimately came up short against the top-ranked Northwest Florida State College in a 59-52 loss on Friday night.

"I am happy where we are this early in the season," Grayer said following the game. "Tonight we competed very well against the No. 1 ranked team."

Sophomore guard Mia Tarver led the Bruins with ten points. Sophomore point guard Heaven Samayoa-Mathis had an inefficient night, scoring eight points on 3-of-13 shooting. Samayoa-Mathis and sophomore Ines Gnahore each finished with four assists.

As a team, the Bruins shot 28.6 percent from three and allowed the Raiders to rebound more than 40 percent of their misses.

"I thought tonight was a good battle that tested us early. I am happy with our performance for the most part, ready to get back and work on the areas that need growth," Grayer said looking forward.

SLCC remains in Florida to take on Gulf Coast State College on Saturday, November 4. Tipoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. (MT).
