Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 7, 2022) – Times have been tough lately for the Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team, but the Bruins responded with a strong road win Monday over an in-state rival.
SLCC earned a 49-43 win at USU Eastern Monday, playing outstanding defense in a low-scoring affair. The victory lifts Salt Lake to 16-7 overall and 8-5 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Defense was the calling card for Salt Lake in the game, thanks to the Bruins limiting USU Eastern to just 32.1 percent shooting for the game and just 3-of-19 from three-point range. SLCC's depth also made the difference in the game, with the Bruins outscoring the Eagles 21-5 in bench points.
Finau Tonga led Salt Lake with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while
Hennessey Luu-Brown posted 14 points in the win.
Ness Ngakosso and
Brooke Donnelly both scored 6 points.
Salt Lake will return to Scenic West play on Saturday at home, facing off against rival Snow College.
