Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 14, 2022) – In college basketball, it's important to play well in the home opener of conference play.
The No. 14 Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team posted a strong response to that edict, earning a 78-67 win over Colorado Northwestern to rebound from a disappointing weekend loss. SLCC is now 10-1 overall and 2-1 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
In a game that went back-and-forth, it was actually CNCC who held a 35-31 halftime lead after limiting the Bruins to just 12-of-28 shooting in the first half. SLCC turned on the offense in the second half though, outscoring Colorado Northwestern 47-32 to move to the win. Play on the glass helped spur Salt Lake to the win, with the Bruins holding a 39-28 rebounding edge and a 16-9 margin in offensive rebounds.
Allyzee Verdan led SLCC with 20 points and 8 rebounds, while
Aminata Diakite had 18 points.
Jamia Carter posted 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
Salt Lake will play host to No. 2 Southern Idaho on Saturday, facing off against the Lady Golden Eagles at 1:00 p.m. inside the Lifetime Activities Center.
