No. 10 SLCC Women’s Basketball downed by USU Eastern on road

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 9, 2022) - The No. 10 Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball team was upset by an in-state opponent Saturday. 
 
SLCC dropped to 9-1 overall with a 63-59 road loss at in-state rival USU Eastern, falling short in a comeback bid after trailing for much of the game. Salt Lake is now 1-1 in Scenic West games.
 
The Lady Eagles took an 18-12 lead after the first quarter, with the Bruins allowing 61.5 percent shooting for USU Eastern. After trailing 23-21 at halftime, Salt Lake was able to take a 52-48 lead midway through the fourth quarter in attempt to avoid the upset bid. Instead, USU Eastern closed on a 15-7 run to earn the win.
 
Finau Tonga posted a double-double for Salt Lake, finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Jamia Carter had 11 points in 15 minutes of play. 
 
The Bruins will play their Scenic West home opener next Wednesday, hosting Colorado Northwestern at 5:00 p.m. inside the Lifetime Activities Center.
