SLCC closed out a Wyoming tournament with a 74-65 win over Western Nebraska Community College on Saturday, moving to 4-0 on the young season. The Bruins went 3-0 throughout the weekend tournament.
Both teams went back-and-forth into halftime, with Western Nebraska holding a 33-32 lead, until the Bruins went on a 25-11 run in the third quarter to take control of the game. SLCC's defense limited Western Nebraska to just 36.8 percent shooting, including a 4-of-18 performance at the three-point line.
Finau Tonga led Salt Lake with 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting.
Aminata Diakite had a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, while
Allyzee Verdan scored 11 points. Jamia Carter also posted 10 points.
Salt Lake will return home next weekend, hosting games in a Thanksgiving tournament.
