Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 27, 2021) – The Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team snapped a losing streak Saturday, downing an in-state rival in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
SLCC earned a 59-31 win over in-state rival USU Eastern, breaking a three-game losing streak in league play. The win boosts Salt Lake to 9-3 overall and 4-3 in Scenic West play.
The first-half was dominated by SLCC, with the Bruins jumping out to a 31-14 lead. Salt Lake dominated the paint throughout the game, finishing with a 40-16 edge in points-in-the-paint. SLCC's defense also caused havoc for USU Eastern throughout the game as the Bruins limited the Eagles to just 26.5 percent shooting in the win. Salt Lake also forced 18 USU Eastern turnovers.
Awa Sidibe led SLCC with a game-high 18 points on 9-of-13 shooting, while
Naelle Bernard posted 15 points.
Jalyn Van Dyke scored 11 points and
Leilani Augmon had a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bruins will host Colorado Northwestern on Wednesday inside the Lifetime Activities Center.
