SLCC coach
Marcilina Grayer, who is the first Bruins coach to lead the women's program to the national tourney in her first season, said it is an honor to return to Lubbock for national competition.
Â
"We are looking forward to a tough battle next week against Butler," she said. "Our players have worked hard for this moment and we're excited to return to the national tournament."
Â
While this is her first year as a head coach, Grayer has been part of many national runs as an assistant under former SLCC coach Betsy Specketer, including serving the team during back-to-back runs to the NJCAA Women's Final Four. This is Salt Lake's ninth-overall appearance in the national tournament.
Â
Butler finished the 2019-20 regular season at 25-8 overall, finishing with a mark of 15-5 in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. The Grizzlies had an 84-52 win over Barton in the Region VI championships.Â
