Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 28, 2020) - Seasons change but the results stay the same, as the Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team will play for a Region 18 championship on Saturday.
The Bruins advanced to the game with a 72-48 win over Snow College in the Region 18 semifinals in Twin Falls, advancing in hopes of claiming their third consecutive Region 18 title. The win helps SLCC's overall record move to 21-7.
Salt Lake took control early and never looked back, earning a 16-10 lead after the first quarter and leading 31-22 at halftime. The Bruins made their biggest run in the third quarter, going on a 16-5 run where they limited Snow to just 2-of-18 shooting. SLCC's defense forced 15 Snow turnovers, helping the Bruins earn a 28-16 advance in points-in-the-paint. SLCC's defense limited Snow to 25 percent from the field (17-of-68).
Awa Sidibe led SLCCÂ with 16 points, while
Ashley Scoggin posted 14 points.
Fatoumata Jallow finished with 10 points.
Salt Lake will play in the Region 18 championship game at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be played at the College of Southern Idaho.Â
