Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 22, 2020) - The Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team suffered a tough loss on Saturday.
Playing on the road with a chance at the outright Scenic West Athletic Conference championship, the Bruins lost in overtime to second-place USU Eastern, 70-64. The loss means SLCC and USU Eastern will both share the regular-season championship, with the Bruins still holding the tiebreaker due to a 2-1 record in the season series. Salt Lake's overall record in the regular season ends at 20-7 and 9-3 in league play.
The Bruins held a narrow lead throughout the game, leading 28-23 at halftime and 46-39 entering the fourth quarter. USU Eastern outscored the Bruins by a margin of 19-12 in the final period to send the game to overtime. USU Eastern forced 20 SLCC turnovers in the loss, holding the Bruins to a shooting percentage of just 37.7 percent. The Eagles also made 26-of-34 free throws, compared to SLCC's 11-of-14.Â
Aminata Diakite led Salt Lake with 17 points, with
Ashley Scoggin scoring 13 points.
Awa Sidibe scored 10 points.
