SLCC Women's Basketball prepares to rebound in final week of regular season

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 18, 2020) - The Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team had an unfortunate result Saturday, falling for the second time this season to Southern Idaho.

In spite of the temporary disappointment, Salt Lake's season-long goals are still within reach as the program takes to the road for the final two games of Scenic West Athletic Conference play. The Bruins will travel to play in-state rivals Snow College and USU Eastern this week, with the game on Saturday against the Eagles looming large due to conference title implications.

SLCC coach Marcilina Grayer said this week's games are critical tests for her program.

"This week is the biggest week of the year," she said. "We are looking forward to a good battle against two tough teams before the Region 18 tournament."

Grayer's comments aren't hyperbole - the Bruins and USU Eastern are tied atop the Scenic West standings at 8-2. USU Eastern will play against Southern Idaho on Thursday before returning home for Saturday's game against Salt Lake. SLCC will clinch the Scenic West title and the Region 18 tournament top-seed with a 2-0 week, or a  share of the title with a win over USU Eastern. USU Eastern has to defeat Salt Lake, along with SLCC losing to Snow, to earn the outright title and seed.

Salt Lake's Thursday game against Snow College is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. The Bruins will play USU Eastern at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
