TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 8, 2020) - The Scenic West Athletic Conference women's basketball season is a long journey, ebbing-and-flowing through journeys across the Intermountain West.
Much like the travel that surrounds the league, the opponents can sometimes provide an almost-sure forecast of challenge ahead. That is the week that is awaiting the Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team, hosting longtime rival Southern Idaho before traveling to play at in-state rival Snow College. The week ahead, featuring teams who've traditionally had great success in the league, is certainly forecasted to be a deciding weekend in who will ultimately establish conference supremacy.
Bruins coach
Marcilina Grayer said her program has great focus on the week ahead.
"We have our hands full this week with two good teams," he said. "We are approaching one game at a time, looking forward to the matchups. In the end, it's going to come down to our ability to execute the game plan."
Salt Lake will open with Southern Idaho, who fell in their league opener to USU Eastern last weekend. The Golden Eagles are 13-5 on the season and had a two-game winning streak broken with the loss to USU Eastern. Snow College has yet to play a league game, with a game against regional foe USU Eastern tipping off their league schedule on Thursday. The Lady Badgers are just 9-9 in league play, a year after tying SLCC for the regular-season SWAC championship.
The Bruins will tip off on Thursday against Southern Idaho at 5:00 p.m., playing inside the Lifetime Activities Center. Salt Lake will play at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday against Snow in Ephram.
