SLCC Women's Basketball takes undefeated league mark to USU Eastern Thursday

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 14, 2020) – Marcilina Grayer has been part of many different Scenic West Athletic Conference campaigns with the Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team.

The Bruins were the picture of consistency for many years under former coach Betsy Specketer, humming along with efficiency and energy throughout the league season. While the leadership at the top has changed, the results on the floor have not as SLCC is once again contending in the Scenic West. Sitting at the top of the standings with a 3-0 mark entering week three of league play, Salt Lake will travel to face another in-state rival in USU Eastern on Thursday, hoping to wind through the first run of league play with strong results.

Grayer said her team's focus needs to remain on controlling their level of execution.

"Last week we had two tough wins," she said. "Last week's focus was on executing the game plan; this week is no different. We have to expect a dogfight every time we step on the floor."

Salt Lake has earned double-digit wins in each of their league games, earning a pair of home wins before following up with a road win last weekend at Snow College. USU Eastern has also had a strong start to league play, sitting with a record of 2-0 in the Scenic West. The Eagles started the league season at 2-0 also, earning wins over Snow and the College of Southern Idaho.

SLCC will travel to play at USU Eastern on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. The Bruins will then rest over the weekend before returning home to face Snow College on Thursday, Jan. 23.
