Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 6, 2019) - The Salt Lake Community College women's basketball program entered the opener of a two-day tournament in Idaho with momentum after strong recent results.
That momentum continued for the Bruins thanks to a big victory over Edmonds Community College on Friday in Twin Falls, with SLCC earning a 94-72 win over Edmonds in the tourney opener. The win boosts Salt Lake's overall record to 6-4.
SLCC came out hot offensively, taking a 22-14 lead at the end of the first quarter on a 58.8 shooting percentage from the floor (10-of-17). While leading just 42-40 at halftime, the Bruins responded yet again in the third quarter with a 25-12 performance that was triggered by a defense that limited Edmonds to just 22.2 percent shooting. Salt Lake dominated several categories offensively, holding a 46-24 edge in points-in-the-paint and a 25-13 margin in points-off-turnovers; SLCC forced 22 Edmonds turnovers.
Awa Sidibe had a standout performance for Salt Lake, finishing with 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting.
Leichan Williams scored 16 points with 8 rebounds, while
Riley Frith had 13 points.
Salt Lake will play Williston State College on Saturday in the tournament finale. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start in Twin Falls.Â
