Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 13, 2019) - Superstition had no effect on the Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team as the Bruins picked up a big win on a Friday evening at the Lifetime Activities Center.
Salt Lake earned a 67-40 win over Tohono O'Odham in their only game of the week, controlling from the get-go in the game. The win boosts SLCC's overall record to 8-4.
The Bruins held a tight 13-10 lead after the first quarter before going on a 23-4 run in the second quarter, holding Tohono O'Odham to just a 2-of-13 performance from the field. After leading 36-14 at halftime, the Bruins outscored Tohono O'Odham 20-9 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.
Salt Lake's defense played a large role in the victory, limiting Tohono O'Odham to just 27.3 percent shooting (15-of-55) in the game. SLCC also forced 23 turnovers, scoring 23 points off those turnovers. The Bruins held a 31-7 edge in bench scoring.
Ashley Scoggin led the team with 11 points, while
Aminata Diakite scored 10 points.
Awa Sidibe finished with 8 points.Â
Salt Lake will play a tournament in Las Vegas next weekend.Â
