Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 30, 2019) - The month of November closed with a victory for the Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team.
The Bruins picked up a 72-49 victory over Western Wyoming on Saturday in the finale to the SLCC Thanksgiving tourney, using strong defense to hold WWCC. The win boosts SLCC's overall record to 5-4.
SLCC opened the game with a
Hazel Fui three-pointer, boosted by other plays to take a 15-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. After holding a 49-36 lead, the Bruins went on a 23-13 run in the final quarter to earn the win. Defense played a large role in the victory as Salt Lake forced 22 turnovers and held Western Wyoming to a shooting percentage of just 36 percent. The turnovers led the Bruins to 24 points.
Fatoumata Jallow finished with 13 points to lead Salt Lake, while
Cameron Mooney scored 10 points.
Leichan Williams had 9 points and
Ashley Scoggin had 8 points.
Salt Lake will play in a tournament hosted by the College of Southern Idaho next weekend. The Bruins will play Edmonds Community College and Williston State College during the weekend.Â
