Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 29, 2019) - The Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team opened a Thanksgiving home tournament with a thrilling victory inside the Lifetime Activities Center Friday.
The Bruins picked up a 78-77 win over Eastern Wyoming College in the opening game of the SLCC Thanksgiving tourney, earning the win on a late score. The win boosts SLCC's overall record to 4-4.
Trailing 77-76 late,
Leichan Williams scored on a layup with six seconds left to help the Bruins earn the win. The late comeback win began with a slow start for Salt Lake, as the Bruins trailed 22-7 at the end of the first quarter. However, SLCCÂ outscored Eastern Wyoming 27-12 in the next quarter to tie the game at 34-34 at halftime. Salt Lake took a 55-47 lead heading into a back-and-forth fourth quarter.
Ashley Scoggin had a breakout performance in the victory, finishing with 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting and a 6-of-9 performance from three-point range.
Awa Sidibe had 15 points, while Williams contributed 14 points.
Salt Lake will play Western Wyoming at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.Â
