No. 19 SLCC Women's Basketball prepares for Preseason WNIT tourney in Texas

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 20, 2019) - The No. 19 Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team will look to rebound from a tough weekend in New Mexico with a marquee performance in Texas over the upcoming weekend.

The Bruins are set to travel to Texas to take part in the annual Preseason WNIT tourney, hoping to rebound after falling to two nationally-ranked foes in a tournament hosted by New Mexico Junior College last weekend. SLCC will open this weekend's tourney with a game against Kilgore Community College at 3:00 p.m. CST on Thursday, with the winner advancing to the tourney semifinals. Each team in the tournament is guaranteed three games.

SLCC coach Marcilina Grayer said the Preseason WNIT tourney is an annual test for the Bruins.

"We are looking forward to another tough battle this week," she said. "Our team is focused on getting better each day, keeping our eyes on the end goal."

Salt Lake is 2-2 overall entering the tournament. Ranked schools in the tourney field this weekend include No. 3 Trinity Valley, No. 5 Seward County, No. 9 Florida Southwestern State, No. 13 Midland and No. 23 Odessa.

The Bruins are scheduled to host their annual Thanksgiving tourney game over the next weekend.
