Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (February 24, 2018) - Success is tough to gain, even tougher to maintain.
The Salt Lake Community College Bruins have a history of success, with multiple championships and runs in the NJCAA tournament. Facing an incredibly tough schedule in the 2017-18 schedule, the Bruins responded to numerous punches and have completed several goals along the way. One of their top goals was to win the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular season title, giving the Bruins a top seed in the Region 18 tournament next weekend.
Consider that goal accomplished, with Salt Lake beating league rival Colorado Northwestern Community College, 86-59, in a home game at Bruin Arena. Salt Lake led 43-23 at halftime, climbing to a comfortable win.
The Bruins limited Colorado Northwestern to just 36.1 percent shooting (22-of-61), holding a 20-9 advantage in the second quarter. Salt Lake finished shooting 52.3 percent (34-of-65), in spite of a 4-of-16 performance from three-point range.
Salt Lake's Jamaica Martin led the Bruins in scoring, finishing with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
Rian Rawlings contributed 12 points to the Bruins,
Tia Hay finished with 11 points and
Ariel Miller had 10 points to round out Salt Lake's double-digit scorers.
