Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (December 1, 2018) - Another game and another impressive victory for the No. 17 Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team.
The Bruins moved to 10-2 on the young season and picked up their sixth consecutive victory with a 79-41 victory over Williston State College Saturday, closing out the Southern Idaho tourney with a perfect record. Salt Lake controlled the game in multiple statistical categories, giving them the easy victory.
SLCC led 19-4 after the opening quarter, taking a 34-14 halftime lead. The Bruins limited Williston State to just 5-of-27 shooting in the first half, compared to their own 14-of-30 performance. Salt Lake would end up shooting over 50 percent from the field, compared to Williston State's 25 percent. SLCC also held a 36-12 advantage in points-in-the-paint, followed up by a 17-8 advantage in points-off-turnovers.
Laura Pichot led the Bruins with 19 points, while
Savanah Crane had 15 points.
Hazel Fui scored 11 points for SLCC and
Miki'ala Maio had 10 points, giving her back-to-back games in double figures.
Salt Lake will host a final preseason tourney next weekend, with games being played on Friday and Saturday. The Bruins will play at 5:00 p.m. on Friday against the Utah Premier squad, while playing against Western Wyoming on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
