Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 9, 2018) - The No. 17 Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team fell for the first time this season Friday, falling in a game at Cochise College.
The Bruins fell 71-56 to Cochise, falling to 2-1 on the season. Salt Lake shot 50 percent in the game, but made just 1-of-10 three-point shots.
Salt Lake led 13-8 at the end of the first quarter, with Cochise leading 30-29 at halftime. However, Cochise went on a run in the second half, outscoring SLCCÂ 41-27 to earn the victory.
"We actually needed a game like this," said SLCC coach
Betsy Specketer. "Cochise has a really good team. They're big and physical and we didn't handle their pressure well at all. It was a good learning experience for our young team."
Leichan Williams finished with 17 points, while
Kayla Anderson had 12 points. Williams shot 7-of-8 from the floor.
Salt Lake will play Saturday against Mesa Community College. The Bruins will play their first home game on Nov. 23, taking on Bellevue College.Â
