Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 6, 2018) - The No. 17 Salt Lake Community College women's basketball team is only one game into the season, but there's nothing like starting the season with a victory.
The Bruins earned a 60-40 victory over Eastern Arizona College to open the 2018-19 season, starting a four-game Arizona swing off in impressive fashion. SLCCÂ shot 48.8 percent from the field in the opener (21-of-43), holding EAC to 28.3 percent (15-of-53).Â
Bruins coach
Betsy Specketer said the win was a solid start to the new season.
"We're obviously happy with the win, especially on the road," she said. "I thought we played really well defensively and controlled the glass as well. We need to do a better job of taking care of the basketball and that will be a focus tomorrow against Central Arizona."
Salt Lake had an impressive first half, taking a 37-22 lead into the break. The Bruins were helped by their edge in second-chance points (12-4) and their rebounding advantage (43-24). They also forced Eastern Arizona into committing 20 turnovers.
