Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 6, 2018) - The goal of the Salt Lake Community College Bruins was to open Scenic West Athletic Conference with a decisive road victory.
For the Bruins, their goal was accomplished Saturday as Salt Lake opened the Scenic West slate with a 62-56 victory over USU Eastern. The record moved Salt Lake's record to 15-3, with a record of 4-0 in road games.
It was the USU Eastern Eagles who held a first-half lead, leading Salt Lake 30-25 at halftime as Salt Lake shot just 21.4 percent (3-of-14) in the first quarter. However, Salt Lake's defensive energy tightened up in the second half, as SLCC limited the Eagles to 18.2 percent shooting in the third quarter (2-of-11) to take a 47-38 lead heading into the final period. One of the key statistics in the game fell in Salt Lake's favor, as the Bruins forced 21 Eagles turnovers.Â

Tia Hay led all scorers with 24 points on 11-of-16 shooting. Hay was one of two Bruins who finished in double-digits, as Miki'alo Maio finished with 12 points.Â
