Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 27, 2018) - A nine day break gave the No. 10 Salt Lake Community College Bruins time to think about how they could improve in the second part of the Scenic West Athletic Conference.
Whatever the Bruins focused on worked, as Salt Lake ran to a 66-51 road victory over USU Eastern to move their SWAC record to 4-1 and their overall record to 18-4. The Bruins held a 34-27 lead at halftime, outscoring the Eagles in each quarter.

Salt Lake held the Eagles to 32 percent shooting (16-of-50). The Bruins' defense also forced 20 USU Eastern turnovers, helping their edge. Salt Lake's offense was greatly helped by their defense, with SLCC shooting 50 percent from the floor (25-of-50).
Tia Hay led the Bruins in scoring, finishing with 16 points on 5-of-13 shooting.
Kimauri Toia, continuing with momentum from a strong performance against Colorado Northwestern, had a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds. Miki'alo Maio also finished with 14 points.
The Bruins will return to the court on Feb. 1 for a road game at Southern Idaho, with a game against Snow College on Feb. 3. Salt Lake's next home game is scheduled for Feb. 10.
