Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (January 11, 2018) - The Salt Lake Community College fell in a tightly-contested Scenic West home opener, falling to regional rival Southern Idaho Thursday in a game that featured several late offensive frustrations. .
Salt Lake suffered its first conference loss, falling to CSI 48-47 at Bruin Arena. The Bruins were outscored 31-17 in the second half, in a game SLCC led by as much as 12 in the first half.Â

Nani Tonga went in for what would have been a go-ahead layup. Tonga missed the layup, with
Miki'ala Maio missing a jumper seconds later. Two layups by CSI's Kaela McClure seconds later gave Southern Idaho a 50-47 lead they wouldn't relinquish, as a
Tia Hay game-tying three-point shot sailed as time went on.
Hay led the Bruins in scoring, finishing with 17 points on 7-of-17 shooting. Tonga finished with 10 points and 9 rebounds on 5-of-7 shooting for Salt Lake.
The Bruins led 44-39 with 4:54 remaining, taking advantage of a
Jamaica Christensen basket. Neither team scored for 2:44, until CSI's Tiena Afu hit a go-ahead jumper with :34 left. SLCC led for 93.5 percent of the game, or 37:23.Â
"This was a really disappointing loss," said SLCC coach
Betsy Specketer. "We led for 39 minutes and just couldn't finish it."
Salt Lake travels to play in-state rival Snow College Saturday, with a scheduled tip-off at 3:00 p.m. The game will be streamed on Snow's live.ksl.com channel.Â
