SLCC Women rebound with strong win over Western Nebraska

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 25, 2017) - The Salt Lake Community College Women's Basketball squad is a little bit more thankful Saturday after earning a strong home win.

In their second game of the SLCC Thanksgiving Tournament, the Bruins picked up an 82-70 win over Western Nebraska Community College, moving their season record to 7-2. The Bruins dominated at the foul line, making 25-of-32 attempts to earn the breakaway win.

The Bruins trailed the Cougars at halftime, 42-33, but Salt Lake responded with a 23-8 run in the third quarter, holding a 56-50 lead heading into the final period. Western Nebraska made just 2-of-13 attempts in the period, compared to Salt Lake's making 9-of-12 free throws.

Tia Hay once again led the Bruins in scoring in the game, finished with 23 points and 5 rebounds. Hay also was a perfect 5-of-5 from the free-throw line. The Bruins had four other double-digit scorers, with Miki'alo Maio scoring 13 points in the game.

Salt Lake will take a break for the remainder of the week before playing Chemetka Junior College on Friday in a tourney hosted by College of Southern Idaho. The Bruins will play two games in the tourney.
