Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 2, 2017) - The fifth-ranked Salt Lake Community College women's basketball program powered to a season-opening win with ease, earning a road victory over Western Wyoming Community College.
The Bruins earned a 93-47 win over the Mustangs, controlling the tempo of the game from the get-go. Salt Lake shot 53.7 percent from the floor in the game, while holding Western Wyoming to 34.1 percent shooting.
Salt Lake held a 17-4 lead at the end of the first quarter, earning a 40-22 halftime lead over the Mustangs. The Bruins forced 20 WWCC turnovers, scoring 12 points off those turnovers. Salt Lake shot 64.5 percent in the second half, along with making 6-of-9 three-point shots. The Bruins made 10-of-18 shots from distance in the game.
Ashley Scoggin led the Bruins with 26 points, setting a program record with 8 converted three-point shots. Mik'ala Maio contributed 12 points for Salt Lake, while
Rian Rawlings finished with 11 points.
The Bruins will play Eastern Wyoming at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
