Bruins power through Gillette, move to 4-0

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (November 11, 2017) - Two weekends of play down and two consecutive sweeps to move to 4-0 on the young season - so is the life for Salt Lake Community College Bruins women's basketball.

The Bruins powered through Gillette College Saturday, earning a 76-45 win over the Pronghorns. Salt Lake never trailed in the game, leading by as many as 35 points midway through the fourth quarter. 

SLCC held a 17-7 lead after the first quarter, leading 32-22 at halftime. The second half proved to be the difference for the Bruins as Salt Lake held a 44-23 scoring advantage. The Bruins shot only 39.5 percent for the game but held defensively in return, limiting Gillette to 28 percent shooting (14-of-50). 

Salt Lake controlled the glass, holding a 64-23 rebounding advantage. The Bruins had 30 offensive rebounds.

Tia Hay led Salt Lake with 17 points, while Ariel Miller contributed 11 points.

The Bruins will play their third straight weekend of road tournaments next weekend, traveling to Texas to play in the JuCo WNIT tourney. The tournament will feature several of the nation's top junior college programs. Salt Lake will open action Thursday against Odessa College, with the matchup starting at 4:00 p.m. MDT.
