WBB: No. 10 Bruins defeat Western Wyoming at home

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah- Salt Lake bounced back after a tough loss last week with a win over Western Wyoming 74-60. The Bruins held the Mustangs to 31.7 percent from the field. SLCC shot 51.7 percent from the field and out rebounded Western Wyoming 47 rebounds to the Mustangs 28. Salt Lake improves to 8-2 on the season with the win.

Ebony Norman had a huge impact for the Bruins in the beginning of the first quarter. Norman scored seven of SLCC's 18 points at the end of the quarter. Andrea Brady also had an impact off the glass with a board and bucket followed by a jump shot from the top of the key. Salt Lake held a 18-12 lead going into the second quarter.

In the second quarter the Bruins started off with a Shirsten Wissinger three pointer to beat the shot clock and a Tia Hay reverse lay-up causing the Mustangs to call a timeout to try to how to defend Salt Lake. Wissinger and Karina Brandon came out of the timeout with a few scores extending the lead 27-15. Hay ended the half with layup and a three pointer extending SLCC's lead 34-26.

Western Wyoming started to nip at the Bruins heels in the third quarter. Salt Lake had stellar plays by Tia Hay and Andrea Brady but the Mustangs cut the Salt Lake lead 49-46 going into the fourth quarter. 
The fourth quarter was all Bruins when Salt Lake went on a 12-0 run starting with a Ebony Norman steal and a Sica Cuzic lay in. Andrea Brady crashed the boards with some offensive put backs and SLCC came out with the full court press to make the Mustangs turn the ball over. Cusic also had a sensational pass to Norman during their run. Brady had a smooth jump shot hit from the free thrown line and Cuzic extended the Bruin lead 63-46 after her fast break lay in. Salt Lake ended the game on a Tia Hay lay in off of a feed from Jessica Derby with six seconds left in the game. 

Tia Hay lead the team with 19 points, five assists, and four steals. Hay also had four steals in the game. Ebony Norman had a double double with 13 points and a team high 11 rebounds. Andrea Brady was surgical from the field shooting 8-11 while scoring 18 points in the game. Brady also had five boards and three steals. Sica Cuzic had four points with nine rebounds. 

Salt Lake travels to Henderson, Nevada to participate in the CSN Holiday Tournament. Their first match will be against Eastern Arizona College Tuesday December 27th at 5:30 p.m.
