COEUR D'ALENE, ID—The SLCC Women's Basketball team (14-4, 3-0 SWAC) defeated Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) rival
No. 14 North Idaho College (NIC) (16-3, 2-2 SWAC) by a final score of
68-63 on Saturday at Christianson Gymnasium.
The Bruins trailed by two points at the halftime break and the contest was tied at the end of regulation. Salt Lake outscored NIC 10-5 in the extra period to secure its ninth straight victory. SLCC remains as the only team in the SWAC without a loss in conference play.
Neither side scored for the first three minutes and 31 seconds of the overtime period until Bruin sophomore guard
Summer Yack (South Jordan, UT) banked in a three-point basket to give SLCC a 61-58 lead. The Bruins would get another three point basket and hold on with late free throws to secure the conference victory.
The win for SLCC is its second consecutive victory over a ranked SWAC opponent on the road. SLCC went 20-for-25 from the free throw line and made eight of its 15 three point attempts in the contest.
Stats vs. NIC: Sophomore guard
Natalie Parsons (Bountiful, UT) finished with 15 points on 3-for-6 from beyond the arc. Fellow sophomore guard
