SALT LAKE CITY—The
No. 7-ranked SLCC Women's Basketball team (18-4, 7-0 SWAC) defeated Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) rival
No. 22-ranked North Idaho College (NIC) (17-6, 3-5 SWAC) by a final score of
83-56 on Thursday night at Bruin Arena. SLCC led by 15 points at the halftime break and out-scored NIC 46-34 in the second frame.
The win for SLCC marks its 13
th consecutive overall victory and the Bruins remain atop the SWAC standings as the conference's only unbeaten team in league play. SLCC moves to 9-0 on its home floor with the win.
Salt Lake out-rebounded NIC 43-23 and shot 63.0 percent from the field. SLCC finished at 10-for-17 from three point range and was 15-for-20 from the free throw line. The Bruins held the Lady Cardinals to 30.2 percent shooting for the contest and assists on 28 of 29 made baskets.
Stats vs. NIC: SLCC sophomore guard
Summer Yack (South Jordan, UT) led all scorers with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc. The Bingham High School graduate also grabbed five rebounds and four assists.
Bruin freshman guard
Cassidy Fraughton (American Fork, UT) finished with 14 points and six rebounds and sophomore guard
Natalie Parsons (Bountiful, UT) turned in 12 points with five assists and two rebounds in the winning effort.
