Coeur d'Alene, ID—The
No. 18-ranked SLCC Women's Basketball team (19-11, 10-7 SWAC) lost in the second round of the
Region 18 Basketball Championships to
No. 6-ranked North Idaho College (NIC) (28-3, 13-3 SWAC) by a final score of 57-33 on Friday. The loss ends the season for SLCC, with the Bruins shooting 20.0% and getting out-rebounded 53-34.
The Bruins trailed 17-2 after just eight minutes of game time and struggled to make shots throughout the contest. NIC's zone defense frustrated Salt Lake, though the Bruins fought valiantly to the final whistle.

Katie Richens (Roosevelt, UT) led the team with 10 points to go with four rebounds and freshman guard
Natalie Parsons (Bountiful, UT) scored nine points in the losing effort. Freshman forward
Bella Swan (Farmington, UT) added seven points and seven rebounds.
SLCC lost three of four contests to rival NIC and entered the Region 18 Championships as the No. 3 seed. The NIC Cardinals are the second-seeded team in the tournament and the event hosts will advance to play in the Region 18 Final on Saturday, Mar. 2 at 5:30 p.m. in Coeur d'Alene, ID.
