EPHRAIM, UT—The SLCC Women's Basketball team (9-4, 1-0 SWAC) opened its 2013 Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) schedule with a road victory over in-state rival Snow College (5-7, 0-1 SWAC) on Saturday. The win marks the fourth consecutive victory for the Bruins.

SLCC trailed by two points at the halftime break, but rallied to outscore the Lady Badgers 32-24 in the second half. The Bruins shot 37 percent from the field and went 5-for-18 from three point range. SLCC held Snow College to 32 percent shooting for the contest with the Badgers making just one of 10 attempts from beyond the arc.

Snow College out-rebounded SLCC 42-26, but the Bruins used timely defensive stops and subsequent scores to earn the road win.

Stats vs. Snow: SLCC sophomore guard Mercedes Riggs (Lindon, UT) led all scorers with 21 points and had six rebounds to go with three assists and four steals. Freshman guard Cassidy Fraughton (American Fork, UT) added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Next up for Head Coach Betsy Specketer and the Bruins is a non-conference home game against Region IX opponent Western Wyoming Community College (WWCC) (13-1) on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Bruin Arena with tipoff slated for 5:30 p.m.
