SALT LAKE CITY, UT—The No. 7-ranked SLCC Volleyball team (24-6, 10-0 SWAC) won its first Region 18 Championship since 2009 by defeating No. 16 North Idaho College (NIC) (16-10, 6-4 SWAC) on Saturday at Bruin Arena in the Region 18 Final.

The Bruins swept the Cardinals 3-0 by scores of 25-22, 25-21 and 25-21 for SLCC's seventh consecutive victory. SLCC hit .175 for the contest and held NIC to a .081 attacking percentage. The Bruins had 49 total digs and out-blocked the Cardinals 16-10.

Stats vs. NIC: Bruin sophomore middle hitter Janessa Koelliker (Kaysville, UT) hit .467 for the match and had eight kills to go with two blocks. Freshman outside hitter Carol Grasso (Sao Paulo, Brazil) added a team-high 10 kills with five digs and three blocks and sophomore setter Baylie Henrie (Kaysville, UT) turned in 33 assists in the winning effort.

Head Coach Sue Dulaney and the Bruins will represent the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) at the NJCAA National Tournament (Nov. 21-22) in Casper, WY as the Region 18A representative. The NIC Cardinals will also advance to Nationals, representing the SWAC as the Region 18B representative.
