Fort Meyers, Florida- No. 7 Salt Lake Volleyball (3-1) split Day 2 of the Battle at the Beach Tournament.
Salt Lake lost their first match of the day in five thrilling sets to Daytona State College. After dropping the first two sets by close margins the Bruins won set three 26-24 and won 25-10 in a convincing fourth set. Daytona pulled away, winning 16-14 in the fifth set.
Rylee Parkinson had a match-high 20 kills and Angelina Murase recorded 19 kills. Setters Swayzee Mason and Teagan Sabillon combined for 48 assists. Daxlyn Robinson had 13 digs to lead Salt Lake.
The Bruins fourth and final match of the weekend was a victory in four sets over Eastern Florida State College. Salt Lake won the first set 25-13. As a team Salt Lake had 15 kills on 24 attempts (.542) in the opening set. Eastern Florida won the second set 25-23.
After the dip in hitting percentage in set two (.100), the Bruins won set three 25-11 and the fourth set 25-14. In set three Salt Lake hit (.591) and in the fourth set they hit (.375).
Parkinson led the Bruins once again as she recorded 18 kills. Murase hit (.700) in the match as she efficiently had 14 kills on 20 swings. Parkinson and Murase combined for 14 service aces in the match. Sara Stancu had the third most kills for Salt Lake with 7. Sabillon led the Bruins with 28 assists.
