Salt Lake City, Utah- No. 7 Salt Lake Volleyball (5-2) won one match and lost one match as they faced two top 20 teams today. 

The Bruins defeated the No. 19 ranked Thunderbirds of New Mexico Junior College in the afternoon. 25-21, 25-21, 25-20. 

Angelina Murase led Salt Lake with 16 kills. Other key contributors offensively were Cameron Zajer with 7 kills and Rylee Parkinson and Andie Thomas who had four kills a piece. 

As a team Salt Lake had 11 aces. Daxlyn Robinson, Zajer, and Murase all recorded three aces each. Thomas had the other two aces. 

Defensively Dax recorded 13 digs and Zajer and Parkinson combined for 19 digs. 

The Bruins lost their second match of the day to No. 4 Weatherford College (6-1) in four sets. 20-25, 25-23, 17-25, 19-25. 

Salt Lake lost the first set 25-20. The Bruins won the first four points of the set, but Weatherford took a 17-16 lead and controlled the rest of the set. The Bruins were strong in a back and forth second set and won 25-23. In set three the Coyotes benefited from inconsistent play by the Bruins and won the third set 25-17. 

The Coyotes successfully closed out the match and won the fourth set 25-19.

Murase had 12 kills and 4 aces in the loss. Zajer recorded 10 kills and 11 digs. Lana Hollway added 6 kills and 5 blocks. Setter Swayzee Mason had 35 assists and Robinson had 14 digs.
