Bruins rally from seven point deficit in second half to defeat rival North Idaho

Salt Lake City, UT—The No. 20-ranked SLCC Women's Basketball team (10-5, 1-1 SWAC) defeated No. 1-ranked North Idaho College (NIC) (17-1, 2-1 SWAC) 55-49 on Thursday at Bruin Arena. SLCC trailed by seven points at the half, but rallied in the second half making nine of 14 free throws down the stretch to close out the win. The Bruins handed NIC its first loss of the season and ended the Cardinals' 17-game win streak.

SLCC sophomore guard Katie Richens (Roosevelt, UT) led all scorers with 20 points and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds. Freshman guard Natalie Parsons (Bountiful, UT) was 5-for-8 from three point range for 17 points and sophomore center Rachel Morris (Mesquite, NV) fought through early foul trouble to score eight points and grab four rebounds.

Next up for Head Coach Betsy Specketer and the Bruins is a matchup with rival College of Southern Idaho (8-9, 1-1 SWAC) on Saturday, Jan. 5. Tipoff at Bruin Arena is slated for 3:00 p.m.
