Women's Basketball opens up season in Cedar City

SALT LAKE CITY  (November 3, 2010) – The SLCC Women's Basketball team opens up their regular season this weekend at the SUU Tournament.  The Bruins will face #10 Pima College and #8 Mesa College during the two day tournament.

Mesa is ranked #8 in the 2010-11 preseason D-II poll; finishing last season at 21-11.  The last time Salt Lake faced Mesa was in 2008-09; the Bruins fell 67-64. Mesa returns All-Conference and All-American guard, Christina Buescher.

Pima is ranked #10 in the preseason D-II poll. Pima finished 5^th in the country last season with a record of 28-8.  They return 5'9” guard Deanne Daniels, who averaged 12 points and 8 rebounds last season. The last time Salt Lake faced Pima; the Bruins won by nine 59-50.
