Salt Lake, Utah- The 2025 JUCO World Series champs (9-6) owned the day as SLCC won game one 14-0 and game two 17-0 against Prairie Baseball Academy in the Bruins home opener.
The No. 21 ranked Bruins got four scoreless innings and five strikeouts from RHP Easton Davies (1-1) in the first game. CF Tyler West reached base in all four of his plate appearances and scored four runs. West, Greyson Martin, Lute Chavez, and AJ Thomas all hit RBI doubles in the win.
SS Drew Smith had a phenomenal game two as he homered twice and hit a triple in his last at-bat. Smith and 2B Gage Wareham both went 4-5 and each scored three runs. Smith finished the game with 8 RBI. LF Willy Roberts also homered for the Bruins. LHP Colby Chambers (2-1) got the win as he tossed four scoreless innings and struck out two batters. RHP Connor Drachman pitched two shutout innings and struck out the side in the sixth inning. RHP Tanner Walkenhorst struck out two batters as he pitched a scoreless seventh inning.
