TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Tuesday, June 4, 2024)— Accolades continue rolling in for the Salt Lake Bruins 2024 softball team after an abrupt end of the season at the NJCAA Softball World Series in Alabama. 

Three Bruins earned three National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) postseason honors after finishing the year 47-9.

NFCA Second-Team All-American & NFCA D1 West Region First-Team
Shelbee Jones - Freshman 
The former Bingham Miner made 21 regular season appearances (18 starts) on the way to a 14-4 record with 11 complete games and a save. The freshman started two games for SLCC in the NJCAA Softball World Series, falling in both.  

Jones maintained a 2.24 ERA and 1.16 WHIP. Jones was fifth in the country, punching out 11.03 batters per seven innings, striking out 187 hitters (14 overall) for the year. 

The University of Utah commit was named SWAC Pitcher of the Week five times, the SWAC Pitcher of the Year and earned Region 18 Tournament MVP. 

NFCA D1 West Region Second-Team
Miranda Mansfield - Sophomore - SS
Along with Lexi Shaver, Mansfield helped form a dynamite duo on the left side of the Bruins infield in 2024. 

The former Clearfield Falcon played every game this season, finishing with a .463/.528/.716 slash line and led the Bruins with 24 doubles. 

Mansfield had six triples, four home runs, 60 RBI, and 31 stolen bases.

Lexi Shaver - Redshirt Freshman
The Riverton High product returned from a knee injury that forced her to redshirt as a freshman. In her second season with Salt Lake, Shaver helped form a top-tier left side of the infield with SS Miranda Mansfield. 

Shaver was third on the team with a .467 batting average, but her power stroke made waves all year. The third baseman finished with 15 home runs and 72 RBI, second on the squad.
