TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (Tuesday, February 6, 2024) – Freshman pitcher Austin Taylor was named the Scenic West Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance against Yavapai College on February 4.
Making his second collegiate appearance, the former Copper Hills Grizzly came into a tie game with runners on second and third and two outs in the third. Taylor induced a groundout to end the threat and was nearly perfect the rest of the way. The 6'2 righty walked one batter and didn't allow a hit while facing one above the minimum in 6.1 innings. Salt Lake went on to win 7-4.
Taylor (1-0) has yet to surrender a hit in his college career. He has thrown 7.1 innings across two appearances, striking out four and walking one.
The No. 12 Salt Lake Bruins dropped game one over the weekend before recovering to take the final three games.
SLCC travels to Grand Junction, CO, for two doubleheaders against Trinidad State JC on Sunday, February 25, and Monday, February 26.
