SLCC Baseball ends 2023 season in JUCO World Series loss

Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 28, 2023) – The 2023 season is unfortunately over for the Salt Lake Community College baseball team.
 
SLCC lost a losers' bracket game in the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colo., falling 16-4 to No. 2 Johnson County Community College. Johnson County will advance to play Delgado in an elimination game Monday. SLCC fell to 31-20 with the loss. 
 
Johnson County jumped out to an early lead, never looking back in a run-rule loss for the Bruins. JC opened up to a 12-0 lead, prior to Salt Lake scoring a pair of runs in the third inning with Trey Gambill and Daniel Gonzalez both posting RBI's. Taylor Ayala also hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning.
 
Ayala went 1-of-2 in the game, posting a pair of RBI's. SLCC had just three hits in the loss. Dalton Smith took the pitching loss. 

Salt Lake's first-ever appearance in the NJCAA tournament ends with a pair of losses, starting with a heartbreaking loss Saturday to Wabash Valley. The Bruins caputred the Region 18 and NJCAA Western District championships to advance to the JUCO World Series.
