Box Score TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (May 19, 2023) – The Salt Lake Community College baseball team is just a game away from the NJCAA College World Series.
 
Playing in a winner's bracket game Friday in the NJCAA West District tournament in Nebraska, SLCC downed No. 19 Pima, 7-5, to advance to Saturday's championship game. The victory lifts the Burins to 30-17 overall.
 
Like Thursday's win, Salt Lake utilized the long ball in the win, with Taylor Ayala hitting a three-run home run in the second inning to give SLCC an early lead. Preston Winget then added a two-run home run in the third inning, with a solo shot blast in the fifth inning to give SLCC a narrow 6-5 lead. Jaxon Weatherly hit a solo home run in the seventh inning.
 
Salt Lake will play in the NJCAA West District championship Saturday.
